At first, I wanted to do a painting of Leornado Da Vinci to honor him since there is some evidence to suggest that he may have invented the bicycle the way we are riding it today. There is mixed historical proof that he may or may not be the original inventor of the bicycle, but people claim to have some drawings of a bicycle from him. Instead, I got my inspiration from the Madonna of the Yarnwinder by Leonardo Da Vinci. I picked her because we can recognize her as a Virgin Mary, but it’s not clear and obvious who she really is. She can bring doubt to your mind. By putting all those bicycle parts at a strategic place into the painting, it really shows the complexity of her beauty. She shows that very peaceful strength and maturity. She is my favorite painting in this series.
